“Rough around the edges” isn’t exactly a glowing recommendation or the best compliment one could receive from a significant other. However, that did not stop Hayden Markowitz from saying that to Gabby Windey.

It was awkward, weird, and uncomfortable and did not sit well with our Bachelorette. I think Hayden didn’t have to say “rough around the edges,” as he was trying to explain that he wanted to pursue Rachel over her.

Why do you even have to preface it like that? Put her down politely and move along; there is no need to attack the lady. Not cool, Hayden, not cool at all.

“Rough around the edges” were the words heard around the world this week

During this week’s group date, Hayden sat down with Gabby and said the following (ridiculous) words to her:

“I looked at today, and my own life and what my values line up with and, you know, I do have my intentions fully for Rachel,” he shared. “And I think you have the bubbly aspect to you, the goofy aspect, and you’re a little bit more — I don’t want to say rough around the edges — but you want people to be very direct with y’all, so I wanted to make sure that I express that to you.”

Gabby expressed that Hayden’s words hurt her, and we don’t blame her. There is a difference between being direct and disrespectful; we all know what side this falls on.

Well, it looks like Hayden has come to see the error of his ways in the days since then. Or rather, his blatant disrespect was finally televised, and he’s now embarrassed and backtracking. I’d say this apology doesn’t feel genuine unless Gabby reveals that he apologized to her immediately.

Check out the IG apology below as I roll my eyes:

All kudos goes to Gabby for taking the whole situation in stride, by the way. When the episode was airing, she posted an Instagram reel with Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” playing in the background. Ain’t nothing going to get her down, she’s a boss a** b***h!

Many came to Gabby’s support on social media, so our queen knows she is loved and admired and is certainly not “rough around the edges.” Get over yourself, Hayden!

We are most certainly not Team Hayden!
