Monday night’s episode brought us episode 2 of The Bachelorette, and this season is off to a good start! We had the requisite helicopter/hot tub date, surprise eliminations, and best of all, we already got some Fantasy Suite drama!

And with that in mind, let’s get to the best and worst moments of episode 2!

The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 2: Best moment: Kitchen banter

Nate’s date had some great times: his magnificent pearl necklace, plenty of laughs, and makeout sessions. But the best moment was when Nate arrived at the girls’ house for his one-on-one, only to discover Rachel casually lounging in the kitchen with her coffee.

Gabby promptly whipped up some champagne for a toast, then wished the couple good luck on their date in a very big sister way. I half expected a “have her home by 11:00” type of goodbye.

This was when I became fully sold on the idea of two Bachelorettes. This was so endearing and funny! I kind of wish Gabby and Nate had stayed in the house and Rachel had been in the background the whole time, just for comedic effect. Here’s hoping Gabby shows up on Rachel’s next date.

The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 2: Worst moment: The pageant

Ahhh. There were SO many guys in this episode–couldn’t we have gotten to know them rather than watching our millionth Speedo pageant?

There were just so. many. guys. I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of “pageant contestants,” not to mention how Gabby and Rachel probably felt.

To add insult to injury, we saw Gabby and Rachel asking some legitimately fun questions (Hufflepuff or Gryffindor) but didn’t get to hear the guys’ answers? Why??

I wish we would go back to something like the activity on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette, when her friends sat the guys down and asked them a ton of questions, and we actually got to hear the answers. Here’s hoping!
