The Bachelorette Season 19 was off to a fun start! Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia seemed to have things under control and took their own initiative on things. I respected that when things didn’t feel right or didn’t seem fair, they took matters into their own hands.

This happened specifically when it was time for the season’s first rose ceremony. They felt like they didn’t have a chance to talk to everyone, and because the format was new, it was just a bit more chaotic than usual. In the beginning, they were talking to contestants together and it wasn’t until a bit later that they went solo.

Both Rachel and Gabby apologized to the men for not getting to spend time with them, and that they understood what it felt like to go ignored or get glossed over during the first night. And because of this, they decided to switch things up for the first rose ceremony.

Who was sent home during The Bachelorette Season 19, Episode 1?

Instead of having an actual rose ceremony, Rachel and Gabby asked Roby the magician, and twins Justin and Joey to join them outside. They were actually able to talk to these three but they realized that neither of them had a connection with them. They just weren’t feeling it, and so out of respect to them and the other men, they thought it was best to send them home without giving up any roses.

The first rose ceremony was canceled because the rest of the suitors didn’t get their time. This was a good approach to the night, and I respected Gabby and Rachel a lot for it. I think this was the right thing to do, and it seemed to be the fairest way to treat all the men who gave up so much to be there.

I know every season most of us say that the contestants knew what they were getting into and that if they were going to make major sacrifices, it was on them. I appreciated that Gabby and Rachel were cognizant of that and made sure to give everyone that came out a fair shot.

Major respect for our duo Bachelorettes!
