It feels like a lifetime since Clayton Echard was on The Bachelorette Season 18 as a contestant on Michelle Young’s season. The Missouri man made an impression on our dear Bachelorette but was sent home during the sixth week. He made it to the top 8 but didn’t quite have what Michelle was looking for.

His elimination came after he went on a one-on-one date with Michelle. She revealed that there was something off and missing in their relationship, and it didn’t make sense to keep him around. Clayton had a very tearful and emotional goodbye, which made it very clear that they were setting him up to become the Bachelor next.

If you are ever curious about who the next lead might be, just take a look at how they exit the show they were previously on. It is actually very obvious, so if you haven’t ever noticed before, make sure to keep an eye out next time.

Clayton Echard eventually found love

After his dramatically emotional exit, Clayton became the Bachelor and had quite the season. He got intimate with more than one contestant, and when that reality was revealed to everyone, all hell broke loose. Susie Evans decided she wanted to leave and Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia were heartbroken when he told them the truth.

It was a ridiculously hot mess, and it looked like no one was walking away happy from it. However, by the time the After the Final Rose special came around, things were looking different. Gabby and Rachel were still pretty pissed at Clayton, but it didn’t matter because they were going on to be the next two Bachelorettes (simultaneously!).

And as for Clayton Echard and Susie Evans? Well, they reconnected after the show ended, and they let bygones be bygones. Their romance had rekindled and they have been very happy since. Their social media is filled with videos of them working out together, and being adorable as can be.

I’m rooting for them, but in the world of Bachelor Nation, most of these relationships are doomed from the beginning. It won’t come as a shocker if a few months down the road, we hear news of them breaking up. But here’s to hoping they defy the odds!

We’re rooting for you, Clayton and Susie!
