Michelle Young is officially leaving behind classroom duties! Yes, that’s right, Bachelor Nation, the former Bachelorette’s days in the classroom as Miss Young have come to an end. When we first Michelle, we all fell in love with her devotion to her students, and the love she had for her work.

Knowing that about her, I can’t imagine it was easy to come to this decision, but things haven’t exactly been easy on teachers since the COVID-19 pandemic began two years ago. During an episode of The Bachelor Happy Hour this week, Young shared the emotional news, and you could tell, it was not an easy one to make.

The epiphany to make this decision came during a conversation with a coworker, Young revealed on the podcast. Find out more about what she had to say about this huge decision below!

Michelle Young is looking ahead to the future

During a conversation with a coworker, Young said she realized that teachers have been in survival mode for the last couple of years. She didn’t really think about it until the question was posed to her, but it really opened her eyes to the fact that she was just trying to hang on in the midst of all the drastic things going on around her.

Young acknowledged that so many other teachers are feeling the same way as her, however, she hopes to use the platform she has found through The Bachelorette to make a difference. She got very emotional while sharing this news on the podcast, and I must admit, I had to grab a couple of tissues.

“As I sat and thought about it, it really highlighted the fact that there is so much going on in our education system and I really feel that as I move into this next year, I have decided to step out of the classroom. Bear with me, this is going to be emotional. I have decided to step out of the classroom,” shared Young.

But just because Young has made the decision to leave the classroom, for now, it doesn’t mean she won’t ever go back. But she will take at least a year to push ahead and pursue her passion through other avenues. There is a lot of room for advocacy work and that is precisely what Michelle Young plans to do.

I can’t imagine it was an easy decision to make, but I know there are amazing things ahead for Young, and I cannot wait to see what they are!
