Next up in our look at The Bachelor history are Seasons 6 through 10. Clayton Echard recently wrapped up the 26th season of the franchise so it’s only right we go back 20 seasons. Clayton’s season was full of twists and turns and new beginnings for the franchise. However, the groundwork for his season was set into motion far before. Seasons 6 through 10 featured international travel, first impression roses, and the quest for love.

Season 6 kicked things off by letting the women decide who they wanted the Bachelor to be on night one. Seasons 8 and 9 followed up by taking place in Paris and Rome. Andy Baldwin, The Bachelor Season 10 lead, was voted the favorite Bachelor from the first ten seasons. Let’s take a look and see what happened to the leads after their time on the show.

The Bachelor Season 6: Byron Velvick

Bryon Velvick was the lucky Bachelor on The Bachelor Season 6 after being voted in by the women on the show. In an interesting twist, the women voted on night one to determine which Bachelor they would compete for either Byron or Jay Overbye. Byron won that vote. At the time of the show, Byron was a 39-year-old professional bass fisherman. Byron proposed to Mary Delgado and she accepted.

Mary was a contestant on The Bachelor Season 4 and returned for Byron’s season. She immigrated to the U.S. with her parents from Cuba when she was a year old. Byron proposed to Mary in Spanish so her parents would understand. After the engagement, the two returned to Byron’s career and Mary even became a respected fisher in her own right.

The two appeared on The Bachelor reunion show on November 20th, 2007. During the show, Byron shook his head no in response to the audience asking if the two were going to get married. The audience laughed but there was tension brewing between the two. Mary was arrested on battery charges the next day after punching Byron in the mouth and busting his upper lip. The two made amends. They finally called it quits in December of 2009.

Byron went on to marry Belinda Juarez but the two divorced in 2020. They have a daughter together that was born in 2012. According to his Facebook page, he now has a tv show, Guides’ Eyes, that looks for the best fishing guides.
