Gabby Windey made it through The Bachelor Season 26 hometowns unscathed and is now in Clayton Echard’s top three. Heck, she may even walk away as the winner at the end of this. Well if there is a winner that is. But she’s definitely a contender I’d say.
Anyway, last week Gabby Windey’s hometown date was the talk of Bachelor Nation for two reasons–her adorable grandfather and her dad (who made a quick appearance). Her grandfather had a ton of hilarious jokes at Gabby’s expense and it made us all smile during the type of episode that usually feels way too long.
While Gabby’s grandfather, aunt, and uncle were all there, there was someone important missing from her hometown date–her father. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it because his girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer and due to COVID-19 concerns, he had to keep his distance from the whole production scene.
However, he did make an appearance, albeit not the one we or Gabby Windey were expecting.
Gabby Windey’s dad surprised her during the hometown date
The hometown date was going pretty well and it became even better when Gabby was told to go outside where she found her father standing near a car with some signs. He pulled a Love Actually moment with messages for her on huge cardboard signs.
A lot of people watching were confused as to what was going on. Personally, I didn’t think it was confusing at all but Bachelor Nation always has their thoughts, don’t they?
Gabby Windey was in tears as her father expressed his regret for not being there with her. It was a very sweet moment but I have to say it was missing one thing–Clayton. I thought he was going to come out and at least introduce himself to the father. Did anyone else find that odd?
Other than that, it really wasn’t that weird and I think it was a sweet way for him to be included. It was the best they could do and I don’t think it lacked in anything besides Clayton’s absence. I know some people were wondering why Gabby and her dad didn’t exchange words but sometimes these moments are sweeter in silence (plus in Love Actually they didn’t talk to one another either!).
Anyway, Gabby’s dad wins hometowns (along with her grandfather), and I think that it was a wonderful opportunity for Clayton to see where she comes from. Now we just have to wait and see how Gabby fares during Fantasy Suites!
It’s a two-night The Bachelor event this week, folks!
Don’t forget that there will be episodes Monday and Tuesday this week–details to follow!
