The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 5: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
This week’s episode of The Bachelor Season 26 saw Clayton Echard and his flock of women beginning their international journey…in Toronto, Canada!
Let’s get to the best and worst moments of episode 5!
The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 5: Worst moment: Trophy Gate
Watching Clayton be forced to confront Shanae about the trophy was so nauseating and frankly boring. It just came across as a father chastising a six-year-old girl.
I honestly don’t think Clayton could possibly care about any of this, but knew he had to listen to the women in the house and do his due diligence in making sure Shanae apologized.
Who exactly did Shanae “hurt” by throwing the trophy in the pond? If anything, it just hurt her own chances. It’s not like the trophy was somebody’s prized possession or family heirloom!
In short–Shanae made some mistakes this season by talking badly about Elizabeth and dominating time with Clayton, but throwing the trophy in the pond truly didn’t hurt anybody.
Let’s forget about the trophy!
The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 5: Best moment: Gabby’s dinner date
Not only did this look like a super cool restaurant to go to, but I was also legitimately interested in what Gabby had to say on her one on one dinner portion.
Gabby revealed that her mother was somewhat emotionally neglectful during her childhood, and went on to say that she and her mother are estranged to this day. She spoke about it with a lot of emotion but also said her mother did the best she could. We have a mature contestant on our hands!
Very rarely do we see a difficult mother/daughter relationship discussed on The Bachelor. The conversations tend to focus on fathers or other family issues.
This was some heavy stuff but Clayton handled it quite well! Also, I love how much therapy was discussed on this date. Cheers to Gabby!
Until next week!
