The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 4: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
This week’s episode of The Bachelor Season 26 had Clayton Echard and his band of women embarking on a trip around the world… to Houston, Texas! I wonder if the fact that Texas has fewer COVID restrictions had something to do with this choice.
In any case, let’s get to the best and worst moments of episode 4!
The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 4: Worst moment: “Best girlfriends in the world”
I don’t think Elizabeth being sent home was exactly fair, but I couldn’t let the moment pass without making a little bit of fun of this statement:
“To see some of my best… they’re my best… some of my best… some of my best girlfriends in the world be so torn apart and leave and have given up so much to be here because some chick just wants to destroy anyone and everyone in the room, and it’s gross.”
I love the show for the drama, but this was TOO MUCH. Some of her best girlfriends in the world? It’s been two weeks!
I also don’t love the narrative of them having “given up so much to be here.” Sometimes that is true, but they all chose to come on The Bachelor, and the benefits of being cast are so numerous that it’s hard to feel bad for them.
Also, it’s not like she will never see these best friends again! Many of them will be sent home in a week’s time. I’m sure they are now closer than ever!
The Bachelor Season 26, Episode 4: Best moment: Football montage
The Bachelor is the best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and this part succeeded: we finally got a montage on the show!
This was such a nostalgic throwback to seasons past, from the first moment there were “fiery passions ignited by a simple backyard game of touch.” Too good.
I’m picturing The Bachelor Bowl becoming an actual yearly, televised event and I’m super happy about it.
Since Jesse Palmer was in the NFL and also a football commentator, he finally got to use his skills!
Well done.
