Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya were gifted a huge surprise during the After the Final Rose special following The Bachelorette Season 18 finale. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen something like this happen–at least not in recent years.

During the special, someone came out with a gingerbread house and the couple was told to look inside the house for something special. And by something special we mean a $200,000 check. Uh, yeah, that really did happen.

Host Kaitlyn Bristowe revealed that ABC wanted to gift them this money so they can make a down payment on the house they are looking to buy together. Again, correct me if I’m wrong, but has his happened recently?

It came as quite a shocker, and while we don’t understand the reasons for it, it’s a pretty sweet deal. Especially if it’s following a romantic proposal and your first official public outing as a couple! Good for them!

But seriously though, what was the reasoning for it?

Based on what I’ve read, I think this might be the first time in The Bachelorette history that such a huge amount has been gifted to the happy couple. I wish we knew the why behind this present just because I am incredibly curious for the reason.

Whatever the case may be, it looks like the $200,000 will be going towards a down payment for a house in Minnesota. Nayte is packing up and leaving his home in Austin to make a new life with Michelle in her home state. He’s ready to start this life with her, and he doesn’t see any reason to delay a second more.

“I’m moving to Minnesota. Let’s call it soon, a couple of months maybe. There’s no reason to wait with Michelle let’s do this,” Nayte told Kaitlyn during the special.

While it may be far away from his current home, it will bring him closer to his family who live in Winnipeg. So it’s a win-win situation all around–and we can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
