The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3: Most cringeworthy moments

THE BACHELORETTE - Ò1803Ó Ð With her trust in the men shaken after last week, Michelle and her remaining suitors embark on a week full of dates set on rebuilding those bonds. First up, stars of the new movie sequel ÒTop Gun: Maverick,Ó Glen Powell and Jay Ellis, push the guys out of their comfort zone and into the danger zone, but the G-forces wonÕt be the only thing making their heads spin. Later, one unsuspecting fella makes the most of his one-on-one time, baring it all in his attempt to woo Michelle. And a group date led by spoken-word poet Rudy Francisco has the men waxing poetic. At the end of the day though, itÕs Michelle, who, moved by the vulnerability of her guys, steals the show with an emotional spoken-word poem of her own. Before the roses can be handed out, a level-headed guy shares with Michelle that the men in the house have always had her back, leading to a series of confrontations and a shocking conclusion that canÕt be missed on ÒThe Bachelorette,Ó airing TUESDAY, NOV. 2 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Now that episode of The Bachelorette Season 18 was a satisfying episode, was it not Rose Lovers? The men finally found out which contestant told Michelle Young the big lie that canceled last week’s cocktail party, and the saddening revelation led to this week’s cocktail party being canceled, too!

There were a fair few cringeworthy moments this week, but if you ask me, I think the grueling G-force simulator group date takes the cake.

Without further ado, let’s recap this week’s cringeworthy moments!

Who went home on The Bachelor?, The Bachelorette Season 18

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3: Moment #1: The G-Force Simulator Group Date

Okay–forgive me for asking, but what exactly is this instrument meant to simulate? Nausea? Motion sickness? Does it aim for the contestants to throw up? In what was perhaps one of the worst dates I’ve seen on The Bachelorette franchise, the contestants were expected to profess their love for Michelle while spinning wildly in a life-size gyroscope.

I predicted every single contestant to regurgitate their meals the second they were let go, but they managed to fight off nausea impressively well. That doesn’t mean that this spectacle was necessary in any way.

Why can’t there be better group dates? You know, ones that include talking, being vulnerable, that don’t require contestants to fight the urge to throw up all over the floor? I’ll never know!

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3: Moment #2: Will and Peter’s Argument

I cannot stress this enough: Will and Peter are really good television. I am disappointed that Michelle let Peter go this week because now, who else will say cringe-worthy things like “I change lives one slice at a time”?

Anyway going back to the date, Peter feels really disconcerted after Will professes his feelings for Michelle in Spanish while spinning on the G-Force Simulator. Why? Because he did the same in Italian, and Will just translated it to Spanish, word by word. Will wins the “contest” on the date and receives a really boring bomber jacket, which makes Peter furious.

At their dinner later that evening, Peter throws his jacket in the pool, and his actions make Will cry. No, you didn’t read that wrong. Will begins to cry because he’s frustrated at doughboy Peter (he owns a pizza restaurant, you guys. Three locations.) but proves he’s the bigger person between them by not taking the drama to Michelle. And Peter goes home anyway, so good for you, Will!

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3: Moment #3: Jamie Gives A Ted Talk

For her next group date, Michelle planned a date so the men can really express themselves. She leads them into an auditorium, where Rudy Francisco aka one of the greatest spoken word poets ever, is narrating a story about his grandmother. Chris G. is over the moon to see Francisco, who he describes as the reason behind his love for the spoken word. It’s the sweetest thing ever!

The men spend some time preparing poems to recite later, and everyone does a stellar job. No, really. My only issue with the producers is that they won’t let us see the entire thing. Release the spoken word cut, please!

The contestants have pretty much hit the nail on the head with the brief they were given–everyone but Jamie. He starts rambling a story about a girl getting lost in the woods,  instead of talking about his personal feelings. At this point, the men are confused and wondering if Jamie is auditioning for a position as a motivational speaker or “cult leader” as one contestant says. It’s pretty pathetic, but we don’t get to see Michelle’s reaction to it either, because that’s when the producers say cut.

Rose lovers, that’s all for this week! Hopefully, next week’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 18 doesn’t take away good television from us by cutting the fun segments too short.

Don’t forget to catch the next episode of The Bachelorette Season 18 airing next week on ABC!
