The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3 recap: Bye, Jamie
By Ariba Bhuvad
The Bachelorette Season 18 is our fourth Bachelor Nation show this year, and I think it’s safe to say that everything is starting to feel like a blur. Sometimes I find myself wondering…have we seen this date before or is it just my mind playing tricks on me?
Well, in this case, Bachelor Nation, our minds are not tricking us because the production team is definitely repeating anything and everything. It is actually quite shocking just how much they don’t care about the repetition.
In any case, this week’s episode did more of the same with the G-Force simulator while Michelle Young tried to recover from the drama of last week’s episode. After Jamie told her that the guys were questioning her character, it sent Michelle on a spiral (understandably).
But she picked herself up this week and went right into the dates with an open heart and open mind. Unfortunately, that didn’t do wonders for her because the drama was lurking just around the corner.
The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3 recap: Top Gun!
Top Gun: Maverick stars Jay Ellis and Glen Powell stopped by in last night’s episode to help Michelle find the love of her life. I’m not sure how much help they were but hey, I loved seeing them there anyway.
During one of the group dates in which Martin, LT, Olu, Spencer, Clayton, Nayte, Joe, Rick, Will, and Peter were all invited, and got to experience the G-Force Simulator. We saw this during Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor and so this repeated date is something all too familiar.
Everyone got funny nicknames to go along with the date and I’m fairly sure most of them are fairly offensive, but hey, they all seemed okay with it.
While spinning on the simulator, the men had to say sweet things about Michelle while trying not to puke. I’m not sure why this date is something they even do because what if you have motion sickness? Or vertigo? I would be a hot mess if I had to do that date.
During the date, there is a conflict when Peter gets mad that Will copied him by talking in a different language. It’s a bit silly, but okay.
The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3 recap: More fighting
On the tour of repeating dates, the guys then had to participate in dogfighting. Will wins the match against Peter and gets the cool bomber jacket to go along with it.
The afterparty is when the fun begins as Peter and Will get into a screaming match with one another while Michelle is cozying up to Nayte. It’s a bunch of back and forth that isn’t necessary to relive but it ends with Peter throwing Will’s jacket into the pool.
All credit goes to Will for staying composed throughout the entire thing even when his well-deserved jacket gets thrown into the pool. Shame on Peter!
The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3 recap: Team Rodney
Alright, ya’ll, how much do we love Rodney?! He’s the cutest and sweetest contestant ever, and he has such a big heart! Ugh, it was just so adorable to see him on the date with Michelle. I know it’s a bit of a friend zone situation but there is potential here and I’m so here for it. They played Truth-Or-Dare and opened up to one another while the next group date card arrived.
For their date later, they rode out into a canoe which gave me total Little Mermaid vibes. It was so sweet and cute, and I want to see more of it! Rodney opened up about growing up with a single mother who worked hard to provide for him. Michelle told a story about a horrible boyfriend that used the N-word on her, and how horrifying it was for her. The back and forth between Rodney and Michelle is exactly what these shows need to show us more of. The raw, visceral, and vulnerable conversations that actually show people getting to know one another.
The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 3 recap: Second group date of the night
Jamie, Leroi, Chris G, Casey, Mollique, Chris S, Brandon, and Romeo were all asked to join the next one which involved a spoken word performance. It was a pretty solid date apart from Jamie being obnoxious AF. Instead of doing the assignment, he just told a story about…something. It was stupid and a waste of time, and luckily, Michelle went up and fixed all the awkwardness with her performance.
Jamie is such a jerk and what made me angry was hearing him talk to one of the producers about how great he is, and how not great Michelle is. It was ridiculous and honestly, what happens next was the justice we all needed.
After a cute rendezvous with Nayte, it was time for the cocktail party, where Jamie’s true colors came out. Rick and Casey began to realize that Jamie was the one behind all the mess of last week’s episode, and decide to talk to Michelle about it. She was visibly pissed off and wasted no time in sending his a** home. THANK GOODNESS!
When he was confronted by her and the other men, he was a hot mess trying to keep up with his lies or find a way to tell them. It was so uncomfortable to watch and I’ve never seen someone try so hard to get out of a bad place.
Needless to say, Michelle sent him home as quickly as possible, and we didn’t have to hear him talk about it or whine about it on the drive away.
Back at the rose ceremony, Joe, Rick, LeRoy, Nayte, Casey, Chris G, Chris S, Clayton, Olu, and Romeo all got roses and live to see another week!
Raise your hands if you are happy that Jamie is gone!!
