The Bachelorette Season 18 aired its second episode last week, and it’s already full of drama!

From a school-themed date that proved the contestants are no smarter than 5th graders, to a new villain putting a stop to the cocktail party, there were plenty of cringeworthy moments on The Bachelorette Season 18!

How long is The Bachelorette tonight?

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 2: Moment #1: Peter’s Musical Chair Skills

Keeping up with Michelle Young’s profession, The Bachelorette season 18 producers decided a school-themed group date would be fitting for the first date of her journey! Michelle invited three young friends (aka kids) named Mia, Riley, and Kennedy who help her put the contestants to test–literally.

Peter flunks at both Math and Chemistry, while consistently vying for Michelle’s attention, which frustrates the other suitors. When it’s time to play musical chairs, turns out Peter is good at it–as long as he’s cheating by forcing other contestants down to the ground and securing their seats.

He thinks he’s a great contender for Michelle’s group date rose, but even the fifth graders at this group date know that he is going nowhere with his antics. It’s just plain immature!

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 2: Moment #2: Will And Peter Fight

During the school-themed group date, Michelle asks the contestants to spell out the word “narcissist”. Will jokingly writes Peter’s name, because he’s tired of Peter making everything about himself. This causes a massive argument later in the evening when the group heads out to dinner.

Peter asks Will to join him for a chat, and the contestants look at them in surprise, wondering why the two men would “direct their energy” towards fighting when “Michelle is looking the way she looks” which is gorgeous as per usual.

They argue, throwing “gestures” at each other and saying stuff like: “Talk to me about Michelle” with Peter responding: “I don’t have to talk to you about Michelle because your name is not Michelle.” Cringe at its best.

The Bachelorette Season 18, Episode 2: Moment #3: Jamie Is A Villain

Rose lovers, I’m going to be honest with you. I had mixed feelings about Jamie when he got the one-on-one date card, and especially when he went off on a rant about seeing whether Michelle is the right person for him because he travels to third-world countries on a day’s notice and has a “wildlife”. This isn’t the Jamie show, Jamie. This is The Bachelorette. How do you expect Michelle to see a future with you if you plan on disappearing from said future at the drop of a hat?

Anyway, the date was actually lovely and Jamie was incredibly vulnerable, sharing about his past and family life. It was really emotional to hear him open up about his mother, and I was furious at myself for having misjudged him. “He’s a good guy,” I said. “He just wants to know if Michelle is his person!!” I added.

And then, one hour later, right before the rose ceremony, Jamie questions Michelle’s integrity with a group of guys committed to disagreeing with him, and yet, goes and tells Michelle that the whole house is questioning her. This is the biggest lie I have seen on The Bachelorette season 18 so far, especially because it has absolutely no facts to support it. As if things couldn’t get any worse, Michelle cancels the cocktail party and updates the guys on her equation with Joe.

And when the contestants begin questioning who upset Michelle and tell her that they were questioning her character in a disrespectful way, Jamie feigns ignorance and pretends to be confused. That’s textbook manipulation, dude. I can’t wait to see him head home next week.
