Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes have called it quits

Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes have officially broken up, Bachelor Nation! Just a little while ago Thurston took to her Instagram to announce the breakup, catching the world by surprise. I mean, I guess we’re not that surprised, but this is sad nonetheless.

Katie’s Instagram post stated that it is “with mutual love and respect we have decided to go our separate ways.” She goes on to say that both she and Blake have concluded that they are not compatible as life partners and that “it is the most caring choice” for both of them to move forward without the other.

And if your hearts weren’t aching enough already, it ends on this sweet note:

“Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”

The end of the road for Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes

As I said before, you may or may not be shocked about this news. This has become a staple expectation for Bachelor Nation, after all. Most couples don’t really last, and very few are still living happily ever after.

I wish we could expect more from a show that is supposed to help people find the loves of their lives, but it all comes down to the real-world implications of actually being a couple. This is why in my opinion, Bachelor in Paradise, is the better show–they just spend way more time together!

Anyway, Katie and Blake had been engaged for the last few months, and the world got to witness it during The Bachelorette Season 17 finale back in August. Just about two and a half months after that episode, the couple has now decided to part ways.

Details regarding their breakup have not surfaced yet, besides the both of them stating that it was a mutual decision. Eagle-eyed Bachelor Nation fans may have noticed that the both of them hadn’t been in each other’s stories recently. While Katie was in San Diego getting settled into their new place and doing standup comedy for the first time, Blake has been in Africa on his animal rescue mission we heard all about during the season.

I don’t want to say “I told you so” but Katie’s Aunt Lindsay did point out that with Blake gone all the time, this was going to be a difficult relationship. And any Bachelor Nation enthusiast would tell you that there was simply no chemistry between these two. But while the world foresaw this relationship ending, it is clear Katie and Blake wanted to give it a shot.

Sadly, things didn’t work out after their whirlwind romance on The Bachelorette, with Blake coming in as a late arrival. But who knows, maybe this could be another Clare Crawley and Dale Moss situation. Or maybe things are truly over between Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes.
