The Bachelorette Season 18 has only just begun, and already, the drama has begun. Right off the bat, contestant Ryan Fox was sent home by Michelle Young. This all happened before there was even a rose ceremony and came to fruition thanks to the detective work of hosts Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

As the episode kicked off, Tayshia and Kaitlyn decided to drop in each of the contestant’s hotel rooms to see if they could anything out of the ordinary, damning, or any red flags. Of course, they wouldn’t have even embarked on this journey unless there was something to find (dare I say this was the producers?).

When they arrived in Ryan Fox’s room, they found some questionable documents. And it was as red flags as things could be, especially this early on. Despite knowing this information from the get-go, Tayshia and Kaitlyn waited until later in the episode to tell Michelle what they had found.

I mean, what would be the fun in doing the right thing and telling her right away?

Why did Ryan Fox get sent home so fast?

While in Ryan’s room, Tayshia and Kaitlyn found all these notes in his belongings that were supposed to help him during his time on the show. There were notes about how to avoid being a villain, how to get the most screen time and some random facts about teachers. There wasn’t anything about Michelle specifically, which was incredibly strange, but yeah, the whole situation was quite interesting.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here and just point out a couple of things about all of this. In Ryan’s ABC cast bio, he basically tells us that he loves making lists for everything and spreadsheets.

"Ryan is compassionate, competitive, and motivated. He dreams about bringing the perfect woman home to his family raisin ranch to enjoy the picturesque sunset of central California, and he is hopeful that Michelle is the one for him. Ryan is a planner who creates lists for all endeavors he pursues, and that includes his love life. He is looking for a woman who checks off all his boxes: intelligent, down to earth, big heart, healthy and a girl-next-door type. Michelle may check all of his boxes, but will he check all of hers? Only time will tell …– Ryan is obsessed with ice cream trucks.– Ryan LOVES spreadsheets.– Ryan is enthusiastic about cuddling."

He was basically honest from the start, so we have to give him that.

I’m not saying that this guy deserves a medal for being honest, and his intentions weren’t the best, but I don’t think he did anything that horrible either. There are a lot of red flags to consider here which is why I’m glad it was brought up, but I do think the producers took this whole thing and ran with it.

Clearly, we can’t start a season of The Bachelorette without this sort of drama so even if things weren’t that dramatic in hindsight, it was necessary for the sake of the show.

We may have bid farewell to Ryan Fox during the episode, but I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. When you stir up this kind of commotion in this franchise, it’s almost a guarantee you’ll be back at some point.

Next. Who got Michelle’s first impression rose on The Bachelorette season 18?. dark
