Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Episode 11: War of Roses
Rose lovers, the Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 finale has finally arrived! I must admit it was hard to bid farewell to this season, but the conclusion had everything I could’ve asked for: an epic bromance, a heart-breaking breakup, and *three* engagements!
For the last time, let’s dissect the final three roses and find out who got down on one knee, and who got to wear a Neil Lane-sized diamond on their finger.
War of Roses: Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Couple 1: Mari’s Final Rose Goes To Kenny
Okay–this couple has my whole heart. Did I think that Kenny and Mari would get engaged at the end? No. Am I happy about it? Absolutely. There’s just something about the couple that makes me root for them. They survived other dates. They survived Demi’s wrath (or as I like to call it, the Demipocalypse) and truly fought to stay together and take a chance on their “spark”.
They’re also great at reassuring each other, so much so that Kenny being 15 years her senior hardly matters. When it was time to get down on one knee, Mari arrived in an elegant floral sundress, while Kenny kept it casual in a shirt and supremely tight jeans.
After hesitating during his proposal, Kenny finally pulled it together, announcing “Mari, I am so f—ing in love with you! I literally can’t see my life without you,” and Mari’s heart melts. He makes a joke about having “old bones” as he asks her to marry him, and Mari laughs before saying yes.
They’re officially my favorite Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 couple -second to Aaron and James. Congratulations on getting engaged!
War of Roses: Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Couple 2: Maurissa’s Final Rose Goes To Riley
The morning after Maurissa and Riley’s fantasy suite/overnight (which is honestly just a better word for going to the boom boom room), he tells her that the idea of an engagement makes him nervous. She hasn’t even met his mom yet, and they met like three weeks ago.
An engagement is a lot–and of course, Riley is nervous about it. He tells Maurissa that he needs to think over it, which is totally rational, but she cries over wanting to get engaged.
What’s so wrong about leaving Paradise with your person? Are Neil Lane rings that tempting? Riley eventually does propose to Maurissa and she says yes, and now they’ll celebrate many Sunday mornings together.
War of Roses: Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Couple 3: Serena’s Final Rose Goes To Joe
Call me a cynic if you will–but I really don’t get Joe and Serena’s relationship. Joe and Kendall ended their relationship because they couldn’t work through long distance and both refused to move to the other’s home town, and now Joe is with Serena–who is from another country all together.
Why can’t you find someone in Chicago? Why, Joe? Anyway, when Joe is getting ready to tell Serena he wants to marry her, his ex, Kendall turns up…again. The first thing that came to my mind was: “Oh my god, Kendall won’t let this engagement happen!!” But instead, she expressed her “excitement” for Joe and Serena’s future.
Bachelor in Paradise season 7 was dramatic, but this was a just ridiculously awkward. When Serena arrives, Joe tells her his ex just visited him, and it made him more confident about his future with Serena. He goes down on one knee, she screams and smiles and begins to cry. She says yes. They get engaged. And my poor Joe & Kendall heart shatters.
Bachelor in Paradise season 7 might be over, but The Bachelorette season 18 with Michelle Young debuts in on October 19.
