Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Episode 1: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 is officially here, and it’s great to be back on the beach! Monday night’s premiere of Bachelor in Paradise had everything we wanted and missed: the super creative (and ridiculous) nature editing, random sudden makeouts, and lots of familiar faces.
A lot went down during the premiere so without further ado, let’s get to the best and worst moments of the Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 premiere!
Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Episode 1: Best moment: David Spade not caring
For all the amazing things about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, they can sometimes take themselves a little bit too seriously.
Chris Harrison’s firing and subsequent search for a host has been such an upheaval for the franchise, so it was nice to see someone just make light of the whole situation.
Here are some golden quotes from David Spade during the Season 7 premiere:
“Uh… hey, it’s David Spade, and welcome to, uh, Bachelor in Paradise.”
“This is the show where the guys are good looking, the girls are good looking, and I’m the host.”
“Let’s re-meet the people we’ve already met 100 times.”
It was also great hearing Tammy call him Dave. Semi-first name basis!
Well played, David Spade.
Bachelor in Paradise Season 7, Episode 1: Worst moment: Noah’s entrance
Ugh. It’s not that I don’t like Noah– he seems fine and I genuinely enjoyed watching him most of the night. But I think a collective cringe went through Bachelor Nation when Noah explained to David Spade why he was so excited to get to know Abigail:
“So Abigail I like because I’m a nurse. I used to do clinicals with kids that were deaf. I think it’s powerful. She’s been through adversity.”
So, he wanted to get to know her because she’s deaf, and he once worked with deaf children? What do those kids he worked with have in common with her other than the fact that they’re deaf? Out of all her many qualities, he chose to only focus on that one for his reason to get to know her?
I can’t imagine Abigail enjoyed watching that back. Not speaking for her, but I’d think she would just want to be treated like any other person and not have her deafness singled out as the reason to get to know her. I could be wrong– there’s certainly a more favorable way to view this, but it just didn’t sit well with me.
Thankfully they seem to like each other, so we’ll see what happens!
Welcome back, Paradise!
