The Bachelor unspoiled

There’s a much wider range of fans in this tribe. You’ve got the people who tune in every Monday but don’t engage with The Bachelor much otherwise, the people who never see it unless someone invites them to a finale watch party, plus die-hard fans who just like being unspoiled.

Let’s look at why you might and might not want to watch The Bachelor this way:

Pros

You get to form your own opinions

Your thoughts on the contestants, the lead, and the relationships will be genuine and unbiased, not based on Reality Steve’s voice or the hive mind fanbase that often forms around spoiled winners.

You get to play detective

If you’re into puzzles and mysteries, this is a big plus. You can exercise your deduction skills by examining the footage, editing, and marketing for clues about who wins – and who might be a contender for the role of next Bachelor or Bachelorette.

You get to discuss with unspoiled fans

I know, I listed chatting with spoiled fans as a pro for the other tribe. But unspoiled conversations are just as fun! You won’t have to watch yourself to avoid letting hints slip to your unspoiled friends. You can debate who’s right for the Bachelor or Bachelorette without the answer hanging over your head. And you’re more likely to find differences in opinion among unspoiled people, which always livens up a conversation.

You get to join fantasy leagues

I’ve never participated in a Bachelor fantasy league myself, but many offices, sororities, friend groups, and more use them to bond. Of course, you could join a fantasy league while knowing what happens…but that’d be cheating!

Cons

You have to work to avoid spoilers

Spoilers for The Bachelor are rampant – so rampant that it takes real effort to shield your eyes.

If you visit a contestant’s Instagram page, you might see commenters congratulating him or her on the engagement.

If you scroll down too far while reading recaps, watching YouTube videos, or checking the show’s social media, people will spill the beans in the comment section. (Note to spoiled watchers: please don’t do this!)

Spending any time in online Bachelor fan spaces is sometimes enough to send you to the not-technically-spoiled-but-might-as-well-be group. Every season, people start obsessing over the spoiled winner to an extent that’s out of proportion with what’s been shown on TV. The level of fangirling can spoil you almost as much as Reality Steve’s website.

You might be disappointed

You did it. You made it through the whole season unspoiled, but you’re sure Cara Contestant is going to get the final rose. She and the Bachelor were made for each other! But wait…he’s picking…Vera Villain?

If you’re unspoiled, you may get invested in a love story that wasn’t meant to be. But hey, maybe your favorite will find the one as the next lead or on Bachelor in Paradise.

You could miss out on behind-the-scenes info

The behind-the-scenes dirt is often just as, if not more, entertaining than what you see onscreen. Unfortunately, you’re less likely to hear about it if you’re unspoiled – partially because you need to avoid most Bachelor Nation content to stay purely unspoiled, partially because this info circulates more in spoiled spaces. If you want to know all the tea, you’ll have to catch up once the season is over.
