The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6: Most cringeworthy moments
Rose lovers, The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6 has dawned on us! A lot happened on Monday night’s episode–a former frontrunner was sent home, a group date ended without a rose and all the Right Reasons™ drama made Katie Thurston throw up. Literally.
But that’s not all, so let’s recap the most cringeworthy moments we witnessed during this week’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 17!
The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6: Moment #1: The WOWO Challenge
Of all the crazy things that happened in this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, Katie’s bizarre WOWO (Week off wa**ing off) challenge takes the cake. In what appears to be a crossover episode between The Bachelorette and Seinfeld, Katie shares an important piece of information she received from a little birdie.
The Bachelorette informs Tayshia and Kaitlyn that the men can’t stop indulging in “self-care” between rose ceremonies, but what if they all agreed to do so? Naturally, Kaitlyn and Tayshia have no idea what she’s talking about, so Katie, who is holding up to her sex-positive image spells it out for them. “Friendly handshake with themselves are off-limits,” she announces, revealing having heard some things.
When Kaitlyn updates the men about Katie’s challenge, the awkward energy in the room and the discomfort on their faces say it all. “This is going to change our journey forever,” says Connor B. jokingly, and then moves on to sharing euphemisms about the deed. If that was our math teacher on television–we’d be running for our lives.
The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6: Moment #2: The Not-So-Great Royal Debate
It’s group date time–and everyone but Connor B. (who gets a one-on-one) is here. Don’t even get me started on how much potential this group date has to be fun! We have drag queen royalty Monét X Change and Shea Couleé here who want the boys to throw some shade at each other– but they’re hellbent on doing the very opposite.
James B. says that all the guys are competing for second place. Greg writes a poem. Brendan the firefighter makes a solid attempt and teases Hunter’s previous conversation about his “top 4” list. Hunter has a major freak-out and lies about having one, and when Monét X Change comes to the rescue–he lies again.
When asked to share how he feels about Katie, he says: “I’m falling in love with her, no question.” He makes the confession minutes after revealing he isn’t ready to say that he’s in love with Katie. Hunter also went as far as saying “I think it would cheapen what we have,” and then suddenly has the gall to make a public confession. This is where we’d ask Katie to run.
The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6: Moment #3: Non-Legally Binding Wedding
For her one-on-one date with Justin, Katie donned a wedding dress, her boyfriend donned a suit and they shared wedding vows under a picturesque wooden arch. The couple was given notebooks to write their vows and Katie even put on a diamond ring to get in the mood.
I’m sorry but why is this even allowed? I can understand that ABC is unable to plan extravagant dates in cities across the globe but isn’t a wedding date just ridiculous? It doesn’t feel like a serious date (considering Katie’s freaking out about losing time) and it’s more of a “here’s a glimpse of the wedding we’re not going to have”. Straight-up rude.
The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 6: Moment #4: Katie Cuts Her Pool Of Men By Half
Katie woke up and chose violence today. No really, she canceled the cocktail party, sent four men home (including Aaron C. whose burn-book ideals will be dearly missed until August 16). Initially, Katie decides to have a conversation with Hunter so she can receive some clarification, but we’re going to assume whatever they talked about wasn’t clarifying enough.
She sends Hunter and his haters packing but keeps Brendan–who we know is a Canadian firefighter but we haven’t seen share a single conversation with Katie. And we’re still emotional from Connor B.’s one-on-one date where he was sent home, despite being there for nothing but the Right Reasons™. But hey, at least he has Paradise.
What did you think of Connor B.’s emotional exit? Let us know in the comments!
The next episode of The Bachelorette Season 17 is Monday, July 19th, on ABC at 8 PM EST!
