This week’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 17 was an emotional ride. The group date had everyone spilling personal stories, and Michael shared a heartbreaking story during his and Katie’s one on one date.

Katie ended the cocktail party early because she felt emotionally drained from what Karl said. Then during the rose ceremony, the guys collectively told Katie about Karl lying. Katie sent Karl home, which made the remaining guys hopeful and happy. The house felt drama-free–briefly.

Former Bachelor Nick Viall helped with the first group date. The date was soul-searching, and each guy shared something deeply personal with Katie while everyone else listened. The stories were very emotional, and Katie shared a personal story too. Years ago, she was in a situation where there wasn’t consent. She tried to have a relationship with the person after because she was in denial about what happened. Katie was very vulnerable with the group, and everyone opened up during this date.

The Bachelorette Season 17, Episode 3 recap: The drama didn’t go away when Karl left the house

The evening portion of the date was going well until Katie had alone time with Thomas. She asked to hear about the red flags he mentioned earlier in the date, and he didn’t honestly answer her question. As a result, Thomas felt disappointed with his time with her. The guys weren’t thrilled with Thomas’ behavior that night and were thankful when Connor B. received the group rose, not Thomas.

Michael A. and Katie had some alone time in the outdoors. They rode a dune buggy around and shared some drinks in the dessert. Earlier in the day, Michael told some of the guys how his wife of 16 years passed away from breast cancer a few years ago.

Later on his date with Katie, Michael told her the same story, which was heartbreaking. Katie valued the conversation greatly and gave Michael the date rose.

Tonight didn’t end with a rose ceremony again. Instead, we heard the guys calling Thomas out on wanting a platform to become the next bachelor. It also looks like Blake from Tayshia’s season of  The Bachelorette may make an appearance next week!
