Chris Harrison will not be returning to host Bachelor in Paradise this summer, despite what many fans were hoping. After stepping away from the franchise due to comments he made during an interview with Rachel Lindsay, Harrison’s fate has been in limbo.

For the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, former Bachelorettes Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams took over hosting duties. And now it seems like others will be stepping in for this summer’s triumphant return of Bachelor in Paradise.

According to Variety, Chris Harrison won’t be the one leading the rose ceremonies and awkwardly popping in and out during episodes. Instead, the hosting role will be filled by a slate of celebrity comedians, including *drum roll*, David Spade.

Apparently, Slade is a Bachelor superfan, so he may step in nicely into the role of the host. However strange as it may seem, and trust me, I’m just as confused as the next person. But nonetheless, this seems to be the decision the network has made, and it’s unclear how long Chris Harrison will be on the out.

Is Chris Harrison ever going to return?

According to Variety’s sources, it’s unclear when that could be, however, it’s been said that he does want to return. Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette is set to air this fall, and it’s unlikely that Harrison will even return for that.

It could be a possibility that he’s out for the year, and could make a proper return when The Bachelor Season 26 premieres in January 2022. However, there is no confirmation on that front, so we will have to sit tight and see what the network (and Harrison) decide.

Despite his controversial comments, Bachelor Nation fans are rooting for Harrison’s return, and are going to be very bummed out by this. It’s even likely that the franchise will lose out on many viewers because of it, but we’ll have to see how the viewership turns out when The Bachelorette Season 17 premieres next week.
