The Bachelor has had quite a year with all the controversy it has stirred up. From Matt James’ season to Chris Harrison temporarily stepping down, to delays because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not been an easy year.

With that in mind, it’s a bit curious that ABC hasn’t said anything about whether or not the series is renewed. Along with other unscripted shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Pooch PerfectThe Bachelor was missing from the list of shows getting another season, according to Deadline.

Is that just sheer coincidence or is that because it’s the end of the road for this franchise? I’m going to go with the latter because there’s no way ABC is ready to shut down the show yet. It might be a hot mess most of the time, but it’s also a cultural phenomenon. I’m not sure they’re ready to walk away from it just yet.

It could just be that ABC is taking its time to figure out the scheduling, especially since there are still two seasons of The Bachelorette to air along with this summer’s Bachelor in Paradise. But still, I think with it MIA from the list of renewals, it has many Bachelor Nation fans curious and perhaps worried about the future.

Is The Bachelor getting canceled?

I’m going to go ahead and say no, but with everything that has happened recently, I’m not sure it’s as easy as a simple no. There is a lot to take into account here, mainly involving host Chris Harrison. After making controversial remarks during an interview with Rachel Lindsay, he decided to step back amidst the backlash.

But most fans have been very vocal about their desire to have him back. It’s either bring him back or they’re going to stop watching the show. And that could very well be a factor in this pending renewal business. Does he even want to come back? Or has the last few months been an eye-opening experience for him and he’s ready to move on?

Hopefully, we’ll know soon enough what the fate of The Bachelor is, and whether or not Harrison will return to the franchise at all!

Would they really cancel the show, though?
