Why did Matt James delete all his Instagram pictures?

Matt James has deleted all his Instagram pictures as Bachelor Nation fans quickly noticed on Friday, March 19. It came without warning and there hasn’t been a post to follow up on what prompted this sudden decision, but one can deduce the reasoning behind it.

But what has fans even more in a frenzy is the singular thing Matt James did tweet out and also shared on his Instagram stories–the date 3/21/21. What does that mean? Is he launching something on that day? Or is this a cause for worry?

After the very emotional and controversial After the Final Rose special this past Monday, James has been the target of a lot of hate. Some are attacking him for his decision to break things off with Rachael Kirkconnell after images of her at an Antebellum party surfaced, and some are just attacking him for simply being Black.

The hate is going strong for both him and Rachael, but after the ATFR special, Matt has been targeted in more ways than one, and prior to deleting all his Instagram pictures he tweeted, “Google Therapist Near me.” Clearly, things aren’t going that well, and now Bachelor Nation fans of his are concerned something more worrisome may be afoot.

Is Matt James okay?

There are a few ways of looking at Matt’s decision to take off all his Instagram content. He could be looking to “start over” with a clean slate, he could be trying to limit the number of hateful comments coming, or this has nothing to do with anything related to The Bachelor and he may be setting up for some promotion or something.

Matt’s brother, John the Scorpio, provided an update on Rachel Lindsay and Van Lathan’s podcast, Higher Learning, during Friday’s episode. He stated that he “called him for that very same reason just to see where his head was at.” And he goes on to say that Matt is “in a good spot. He’s good. People don’t need to worry about Matt.”

John also shared “It’s kind of like he’s going through a detox phase, of all the stuff that he was dealing with ABC and being in the spotlight and doing interviews. He’s in a better place.”

Okay, so maybe this is just a detox like John said, and Matt is hoping to start anew in a couple of days. At least that is the hope we all have!

It’s certainly been a rough few days for our former Bachelor to the point where Rachael spoke out in his defense once again asking people to stop with the hateful comments towards him.

"I am taken aback by what I’ve seen tonight. If you think that attacking a person I care about with racist insults is what I would ever want, you haven’t been listening. Some of the things I’ve seen being said to and about Matt are repulsive. I respect the decisions that Matt has had to make during this experience. If you are directing hate towards him, please stop. Recognize someone’s humanity and think about the impact your words have."

So maybe in light of all of this and with his finale finally airing, Matt James needs to take a step back to figure things out. Whatever it may be, we hope he is doing okay!
