The new host of After the Final Rose Emmanuel Acho is an exciting addition to the Bachelor Nation. The former NFL linebacker is actually very well versed in conflict mediation so hosting this show is right up his alley. His book, Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, deals with difficult conversations, much like the ones that contestants have to have during the show.
In this book, which is now available on Amazon, Acho takes on systemic racism. He examines it from all different angles and doesn’t shy away from the conversations many are too nervous to have. In the description of the book, Acho says, “You cannot fix a problem you do not know you have.” Through this book, Acho tries to inspire his readers to look at the world around them and see how they can be more compassionate, understanding, and curious around these difficult discussions that are so important to have.
Acho, in addition to writing this book, has also created a video series to tie in with the book. He has also adapted his book for a younger audience called Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Boy so young people can talk about systemic racism. This new version is available for pre-order on Amazon.
It seems though, that this book and his video series did help Acho with the difficult conversations had to mediate on After the Final Rose about how race has been treated in the Bachelor shows. Just like his book preaches, though these are uncomfortable conversations, they are ones that need to be had. Hopefully, now that Acho is in the Bachelor world, we will be able to see him around for more After the Final Rose episodes and help more couples.
Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man is available on Amazon in hardback for $13 and for pre-order in paperback. Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Boy in hardback is available for pre-order on Amazon for $13 and should be released on May 4, 2021.
