The Bachelor Season 25 finale: Worst moment: Rachael’s chat with Mom

Don’t get me wrong–Rachael’s talk with Matt’s mother was a very touching and emotional conversation. I really enjoyed seeing a deeper side of Rachael, and she undoubtedly got along very well with the amazing Patty.

HOWEVER. The fact that Matt chose Rachael, and the fact that he broke up with her, have been possibly the worst-kept secrets in all of Bachelor history. Knowing this was coming almost made me want to fast forward through all of the Rachael scenes, particularly the more touching ones, just to get to the end and see if the rumors were true.

This show is about much more than the lead “finding love.” This season in particular has touched on deep and relevant issues, particularly racism. It’s been an important season for all of Bachelor Nation, and it will be interesting to see what comes of it!

HOWEVER. Knowing that Matt did not find lasting love truly did make The Bachelor Season 25 finale, and particularly this conversation between Patty and Rachael, borderline unwatchable. In order for me (and I assume most viewers) to get invested in an emotional moment like this, we need to truly have hope that some sort of fruit will be born from it. The feeling I was left with was a kind of overall sadness that this was Matt’s “love story.”

Best and worst moments aside, this really was a one-of-a-kind season that will hopefully have a lasting effect on all of Bachelor Nation and beyond! Cheers to Matt–he really was a great Bachelor!
