Seriously, where has the time gone? We have officially finished The Bachelor season 25, and we’re here to break down the emotional finale as well as where Matt James stands today. The episode tonight began with Matt introducing his final two contestants, Michelle Young and Rachael Kirkconnell, to his mom and brother. Everything went great, however after speaking with his mom, Matt realized perhaps he was not ready to get engaged in the end.
With just a few days left before the final rose ceremony, the 29-year-old star found himself in crunch-time to try and make his decision.
It seemed pretty obvious to viewers that Matt was head over heels for Rachael. She was the only woman this season he said he was in love with, and he seemed so happy anytime he was around her. During the finale, you could tell Matt was starting to feel guilty while spending time with Michelle. On their one-on-one date, he acknowledged in his confessional that Michelle was laying her heart out on the line for him, and it seemed like he didn’t feel the same way.
Who went home on The Bachelor?
Unfortunately, Michelle Young went home prior to the final rose ceremony. She and Matt had an incredibly emotional conversation, where Matt explained that he had doubts. When Michelle asked for clarity and whether or not she should fight for him, Matt sadly told her he couldn’t get there with her. Their conversation ended with Matt getting up and leaving.
Who won The Bachelor?
But Matt did not leave empty-handed. Rachael Kirkconnell is the winner of The Bachelor season 25, and though she and Matt did not get engaged in the finale, they did decide to date and see where their relationship would go.
Are Matt and Rachael still together?
Curious to know whether or not Rachael and Matt are still together today, despite all the controversy surrounding her racist behavior? The After the Final Rose special tonight revealed that they have since broken up. While the season was airing, photos came out of Rachael attending an Antebellum plantation party in 2018 during college. It was obvious during ATFR that Matt was heartbroken, and we don’t blame him. We wish him the best in healing his heart.
