2020 was a bit of a whirlwind for Bachelor Nation, and it looks like 2021 has unfortunately been troublesome already. We’re kicking off this year with some very big questions about potential changes to the franchise, including what’s really happening with The Bachelorette season 17. Most notably, when it’s actually going to happen. Here’s what we know so far.

According to Women’s Health, filming for The Bachelorette is still set to resume sometime in March and thus far, production plans to stick to that schedule.

Will The Bachelorette be pushed back?

As of right now, the leading lady has not yet been

officially

announced. Although it was reported by Reality Steve that

Katie Thurston

would become the next Bachelorette, things are looking different after the

Chris Harrison controversy

.

And as

Reality Steve

writes in a recent post, the identity of

The Bachelorette

season 17 lead isn’t the only gigantic question mark we’re facing right now. Currently, it’s not clear if Chris Harrison will be hosting the show or not. As fans of the franchise know, the host announced he’d be stepping down from the job and we don’t know if or when he’ll be back. Many people are calling for him to be

permanently fired

.

With so many major factors still up in the air and significant changes possibly underway, the reality guru suspects The Bachelorette might be pushed back. The show will inevitably go on, of course, but he’s not totally sure when.

Of the upcoming season, Reality Steve says:

"It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the season got pushed back a bit. It’s probably unlikely, but if it does film, the whole aspect of who’s hosting it becomes a big question."

Reality Steve goes on to admit that he has “no idea” what ABC is doing, but he does believe the network will be announcing the answers we seek very soon. If The Bachelorette does film as scheduled, he notes that “filming would start in about a month,” assuming everything goes according to plan.

Thus far, however, the plan doesn’t seem fully in place. There’s also a solid chance ABC is remaining hush-hush about the upcoming season until Matt James’ stint on The Bachelor season 25 comes to a full close.

So stay tuned for updates, which we’ll hopefully be getting soon.
