Clint and JJ from The Bachelorette: Looking back at their bromance
2015 marked a wild year for The Bachelor franchise, as this was the year when The Bachelorette began with two leads. Yep, you read that right. For some twisted reason, ABC thought it would be a good idea to start season 11 with two ladies on night one, leaving the men to vote on which woman they wanted to stay. Looking back, it probably wasn’t the best idea for their mental health. Perhaps it’s why that idea was never used again.
As fans will know,
was chosen over Britt Nilsson as the Bachelorette, and her season turned out to be all kinds of wild. With a late addition of
and an awesome trip to Ireland I’m still jealous of, it’s definitely worth the watch. Kaitlyn had a very interesting group of men competing for her, and some moments are definitely still meme-worthy.
From Tony Harris quitting after he realized the show wasn’t right for him, to Joshua Albers’ super awkward elimination, Kaitlyn certainly had her hands full. And that’s still not to mention two of the real stars of the show: Clint Arlis and JJ Lane. If you remember anything about
The Bachelorette
season 11 at all, it might be them.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re looking back at this iconic Bachelorette bromance.
Clint Arlis and JJ Lane
Clint was actually chosen for the first one-on-one date with Kaitlyn, and the two had a great time together. Things were looking really great for the contestant from Illinois in the beginning, but his shot at winning the final rose quickly dwindled over the episodes. As he grew closer with JJ, he seemed to lose all interest in Kaitlyn.
The third episode of The Bachelorette season 11 is literally titled “Week 3: Sumo Wrestling, Sex Education and Clint & JJ’s Bromance,” and it’s for good reason. This episode marked the moment when the show really started focusing on Clint and JJ’s bromance as a subplot. The two men basically isolated themselves from the other contestants, and Clint even admitted at one point:
"I feel like I’ve connected with JJ probably more than Kaitlyn right now. We’re so similar it’s actually insane."
Unfortunately for them, the bromance did not last long. By the fifth episode, Kaitlyn rightfully decided to send Clint home after hearing from the other men that perhaps he wasn’t there for the right reasons. And when Clint looked for support, JJ refused to come to his defense. It was a truly shocking moment of the season to see the two men part ways.
JJ ended up getting eliminated in Week 6.
Clint and JJ: Where are they now?
If you’re wondering where these two former Bachelorette contestants are up to these days, you’re in luck. Both men are active on social media and appear to be doing very well!
JJ seems to be in the spotlight more often than Clint, and he is now married! The former investment banker said “I do” to Kayla Hughes in February 2020. People published exclusive photos from their big day, with JJ telling the publication leading up to it, “I’m so ready to marry her. My relationship with Kayla is so real and normal. I’m not nervous. I’m just excited.”

As for Clint, we don’t know if he’s married, but he has been in a relationship with someone named Fiona for a few years. His first Instagram post with her was shared in 2017. He’s continued his career in architecture, and by his page it’s evident that he loves fishing!

Are Clint and JJ still friends?
Though the pair left The Bachelorette season 11 on a bad note, they did seem to be on good terms during the Men Tell All. As for nowadays, it’s tough to tell. The two men are currently following each other on Instagram, so it looks like they might keep up with one another–at least via social media.
