The Bachelor Season 25, Episode 5: Worst moment: Faux two-on-one
Two-on-one dates have long been a source of entertainment on The Bachelor. Moments that come to mind: Corinne and Taylor in the New Orleans swamp, Kelsey and Ashley I. both left alone in a desert, Chad returning after his two-on-one in the forest to run his fingers down a foggy glass door.
At least, in these moments, the show was somewhat making fun of itself, providing entertaining moments to the viewers, and giving us a semblance of a “date” to justify the two-on-one drama.
No longer. Last night’s episode ended with rivals MJ and Jessenia being invited/forced to come early to the cocktail party to get to the bottom of their drama.
When the show did this last season, scheduling a pre-cocktail party conversation with Bennett and Noah, it was bad enough. But I sort of gave it a pass due to the overall rushed feeling of Tayshia’s season. I figured they genuinely didn’t have time for a true two-on-one date.
Alas, it’s clear this season does have time (they certainly found time for gratuitous escort accusations and the introduction of multiple new women) but for some reason thought two women meeting with Matt before a cocktail party counted as a two-on-one.
Drama is all well and good, but we need some entertainment and humor to go with it, people!
