The Bachelor Season 25, Episode 4: Worst moment: The “new arrivals” decision

While Michelle was a shining star, the overall decision to introduce five new women was a prime example of what I see as manufactured drama versus real drama. Now, one could argue that all the drama is somewhat “manufactured” since the girls are in the inescapable environment of The Bachelor, but the believable, naturally occurring drama is always preferable to obvious producer moves.

As Mari so aptly put it: “This is just another way of fueling my frustration. Again.”

Obviously, the show feels the need to up the drama every season and do something “never before seen,” but introducing new women into the environment this late into the game doesn’t even make sense to me.

If anything, it seems like this move would decrease drama among most of the contestants we already know, allying them against new, common enemies who haven’t actually done anything wrong. Since we all know these new arrivals had no choice about when they entered the show, it’s just not entertaining to see them get beaten up for it.

Sigh. Here’s hoping this move pays off more than it did this episode!
