The start of the Week 3 episode of

The Bachelor season 25

received notably mixed reactions from the

contestants

. In case you missed it,

Sarah Trott

almost fainted when the rose ceremony began, and some of the girls found the timing inconvenient. Of course,

Matt James

was sincerely worried about her. But after what she did next, a few contestants began wondering if Sarah was playing the game a little

too

well.

The reality is, Sarah Trott was a top contender. But repeatedly, Sarah expressed being concerned that she wasn’t getting enough time with Matt. After admitting she had a tough time watching the leading man with the other women, Sarah decided to do something about it. And so, she crashed the group date.

After stealing Matt away, Katie Thurston attempted to steal him back, but things didn’t go exactly as planned. Sarah told her to “give [them] five minutes,” and an extremely awkward moment between the three ensued.

Ultimately, Sarah apologized to the contestants for interrupting their group date, but the damage seemed already done. Not everyone accepted her apology, accusing the contestant of “preying on Matt’s sympathies” and turning season 25 into “the Sarah show,” especially after Matt went to check on her before his date with Serena Pitt. And some contestants, including Kit Keenan and Victoria Larson, didn’t have nice things to say to Sarah at the time. Feeling attacked and “not in a good headspace,” Sarah considered leaving.

Later on in the episode, Sarah opened up about the fact that her father was suffering from ALS and she didn’t know how much longer he had. Even though she had a real connection with Matt, she decided that between the tension in the house and her dad’s illness, sadly, it was time for her to go.

In the end, Matt was disappointed, Sarah was heartbroken, and the whole thing was incredibly sad to watch.

On Instagram, Kit Keenan is now apologizing for the way she treated Sarah in the most recent episode. On her Instagram Story, she wrote:

"I believe what unfolded last night was an outcome of a lack of communication. I had no idea what was going on with Sarah’s family or in her personal life. Rather than hearing her out, I spoke quickly out of frustration and that was unacceptable. I know that the time for compassion was in the moment and not in hindsight, but I want to apologize to Sarah & anyone whose feelings were hurt by my words."

Not everyone online is letting Kit off the hook just yet, however. On Reddit, one Bachelor fan reposted the apology and people were quick to chime in. Someone responded, “FYI you don’t need to know what’s going on in someone’s personal life in order to treat people correctly.”

Another said, “Lol what a joke… ‘If I would have known her dad was dying I wouldn’t have ganged up on her'” adding, “That’s what all the bullies say,” and they definitely weren’t alone in that feeling.

With that said, the general consensus was that Sarah was “in the wrong” for crashing the group date, among other things, but most agreed Kit’s reaction was unwarranted. To be fair, Kit wasn’t the only contestant extremely upset with Sarah, nor was she the only one to confront her. Still, one Reddit user noted that Kit vividly wanted Sarah “to be punished” on the show without any concern for her side of the story.

From Kit Keenan’s post, it seems clear she’s realized the error of her ways after having learned what Sarah Trott was going through, and acknowledged publicly that she handled the situation poorly.

Still, it may not be enough in the eyes of The Bachelor fans. Some people are calling Kit’s apology “insincere,” “cheap,” and possibly a poorly veiled attempt to do damage control for her own sake, rather than Sarah’s.
