The Bachelorette Season 16 two-part finale: Best and worst moments
By Julia Wagner
Tayshia Adams’ journey to find love concluded with a two-night special for The Bachelorette Season 16, featuring these best and worst moments!
It was the conclusion of The Bachelorette Season 16 this week, and we were treated to two nights of Tayshia and her final suitors. We had the return of Ben! We had to say goodbye to Ben again! We had to let Ivan go! We had a visit from Tayshia’s family! Best of all, we got to see a lovely proposal and profession of love between Tayshia and Zac.
The Bachelorette Season 16 ended with a different finale than usual, as has been the way of the season. We had no live audience, no Chris Harrison commentary, no live updates. However, we did get to witness some of the best and some of the worst moments over the course of two nights.
So, without further ado, let’s talk about it!
The Bachelorette Season 16 finale: Best moment: Tayshia’s talk with her father
The best moments of every season are the ones in which the leads, or contestants, feel like real people rather than television personalities. This season had many of those moments, thanks to the craziness that was Clare and Dale, as well as the fact that this season just had very “real” men!
The most “real” moment for me in this finale was when Tayshia’s dad came to talk with her. I have loved Tayshia’s father since he first appeared on Colton’s season and smacked Colton down for his overuse of the word love and weaving a tangled web. He knows what’s up!
Tayshia’s previous marriage has been referred to throughout the season, but she has rarely gotten emotional about it. When her father came to talk to her about how he doesn’t want to see her heartbroken again, we got to see Tayshia as a real person and daughter, not just this season’s Bachelorette.
After the visit, Tayshia opened up about a moment after her divorce in which she was sitting in her car sobbing in the middle of the night and her father came to sit with her. Hearing her recount this and seeing her father’s fear that she will get hurt again gave so much extra weight to this finale.
The whole visit reminded me of when Cassie Randolph’s father came to see her during Fantasy Suite week, causing Cassie to break down and realize she needed to leave the show. We should have an extra visit from from a parent on every Bachelor finale!
