The Bachelorette Season 16, Episode 9: Best Moment: The lie detector test

This group date really was The Bachelorette at its best. The group date activity of giving the men a lie detector test provided so much fodder for the episode. This show works best when it doesn’t always take itself too seriously but still provides interesting dialogue, and this test really was the gift that kept on giving!

The most hilarious moment was Zac’s “cheating” story. I imagine the production team knew about Zac’s lack of actual cheating; it’s got to be one of the questions they ask the men during pre-season interviews! Yet they still posed this question to Zac in particular and let Tayshia freak out about it prior to the evening portion of the date. His bone-dry delivery of the cheating story where he kissed a girl at a Bowlerama was priceless. It’s so rare we get to be surprised by this show!

This activity also elicited some actual backstories from the men—I love that we are getting to know them so well! Tayshia herself said it made her see some of the men in a new light. I loved when Noah said, “I haven’t done a great job to show who I really am.” It seems like the test helped!

Best of all, I liked that none of the men seemed offended that they were being subjected to a polygraph. Do we all remember how Josh Murray famously overreacted to the lie detector test on Andi Dorfman’s season? We’ve come a long way since then!

Next. Kelley Flanagan's hot take about Bennett. dark

What a fantastic episode! Can’t wait for hometowns next week!
