The Bachelorette Season 16, Episode 9: Worst Moment: Spencer goes home

All right, so there were plenty of cringeworthy moments to choose from, as with any Bachelorette episode. However, this one really stood out to me in terms of viewer confusion. Spencer sailed into this season on a high, earning Tayshia’s first impression rose and, predictably, getting some heat from the guys because of it.

Since then, however, Spencer has virtually disappeared from our screens. I suppose this could be seen as a positive, indicating he has kept himself out of the drama. However, I cannot accept that virtually no time between Spencer and Tayshia has been shown considering the strong initial connection. They must have had some conversations, and Tayshia must have reasons for sending him home, so why hasn’t it been shown??

Think back: have we ever had a first impression rose recipient disappear so completely from the show, with no explanation? I would have settled for one or two comments from Tayshia in her interviews— maybe she realized it was just physical chemistry and their conversations didn’t go anywhere? Maybe Spencer wasn’t as into her as she was into him? Maybe something bad actually happened?

I must know! Considering the strong track record of Bachelorettes choosing their first impression rose recipient, this omission feels particularly upsetting!
