Kelley Flanagan has a hot take about The Bachelorette’s Bennett
By FS staff
In case you missed it, Bennett was finally kicked off The Bachelorette during the two-on-one date last night–until he came back in the final moments of the episode, of course.
Not so surprisingly, Bennett was once again starting drama with Noah, which led to Tayshia Adams setting them both up on the two-on-one. And now, for whatever reason, former Bachelor contestant Kelley Flanagan is deciding to stick up for him.
When
was on now-boyfriend Peter Weber’s season of
The Bachelor
, she was frequently letting it be known that she didn’t fit in with the other girls, often reiterating that she was an attorney whenever she attempted to separate herself.
And on more than one cringe-worthy occasion, she insinuated she was better and smarter than her fellow contestants. While Kelley might’ve meant she was better suited for Peter Weber, she inevitably decided reality TV wasn’t right for her, moved onto other things, and eventually started dating Peter anyway.
Obviously, many who watched her stint on Peter’s season voiced that they found some of her behavior and statements pretentious. Sound familiar?
More than once, Bennett has made it known on The Bachelorette that he believes he’s superior to the competition in one way or another, for instance his Harvard degree and emotional intelligence. And now, it appears that Kelley Flanagan seems to agree that Bennett is better than the treatment he’s being given on the show and by fans of the franchise.
Kelley’s tweet about Bennett
On Reddit, someone reposted Kelley’s pro-Bennett tweet–where she spelled the season 16 Bachelorette’s name incorrectly more than once. The tweet in question reads:
"There is NOT 1 instance where Bennett treated Tayisha wrong..His annoyance for Noah has nothing to do with how he would treat tayisha..Everyone in this has someone that annoys them & living with them for weeks would spark that. Especially when you’re being questioned about it."
The backlash was almost instant. On social media, the fans have been calling Kelley out for defending Bennett and have been seriously questioning her motives. For starters, it seems to some that she may have Bennett’s back way more than she has Tayshia’s. However, some fans reluctantly agreed with the 28-year-old reality star.
One person on Reddit wrote:
"I know this is unpopular but I actually agree with Kelley. But she definitely feels the need to defend Bennett because she was the Bennett of her season. I felt Noah was saying the same things as Bennett was in just a different way. They both were voicing certain qualities that made the other not compatible with Tayshia."
Currently, most people responding to the post on Reddit seem to think that Kelley came to Bennett’s defense mostly because she’s able to relate to him more than any of the other contestants. In turn, some think her support might be more about herself than anyone else.
Even if she makes a valid point, defending Bennett is not the best look for Kelley!
