This week on The Bachelorette Season 16 was vulnerable, baby.

The Bachelorette Season 16 found Tayshia Adams uncovering the deeper side of her men this week. There are overarching themes to Tayshia’s plan of attack each week and this column will be a weekly update on her journey to finding her person.

The major theme of this week’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 16 was vulnerability. And boy, did we get some men stripping down to show Tayshia all their feels. Every date this week dug deeper into what has shaped each of the contestants into the person that they are now.

The week started with a one on one with Zac, who is definitely going to end up in the top 4 as of now. He has a great connection with Tayshia and she seems to really like spending time with him, so I can see him going far. During the night portion of the date, Zac reveals that he struggled with addiction and spent time in rehab, but was able to pull himself out of that place and now holds leadership at his previous facility.

This was a very raw moment on the show and Zac proved incredibly brave for speaking about his past. Addiction is a difficult topic to address, let alone on national television, and Tayshia appreciated his ability to do this.

Now, on to the group date.

The guys are taken to an art studio where they need to sketch a nude couple, form a piece out of clay, and finally create a self-portrait that revealed something about themselves. The first two assignments more served as comedic relief, as none of them are even remotely close to trained artists.

But the last challenge really brought something out in them all. Each guy told their story and made a physical representation of those details. Riley, Brendan, and Ivan all stood out with their pieces, including aspects of adding Tayshia to their family and creating a life together.

Ben ended his by stripping down nude in front of everyone, and while he talked about how this was about taking down all his walls, I personally found it to be too much, and then he never spoke about what about this decision was personal!

Ben makes up for this later by confiding in Tayshia about his past where he struggled with an eating disorder for most of his life. This is maybe the first time this topic has also been brought up on the show and it was groundbreaking to hear a man who is so stereotypically fit and masculine to address how this ideal can lead to violence against yourself. Ben has earned his place in Tayshia’s favorites.

The one on one with Eazy has finally come, and though the production created haunted house was a good, fun laugh, at the dinner portion he confesses that he is falling in love with Tayshia. Given their very little time together, she sends him home because she is not feeling the same way, which is exactly what she should do.*

*Trigger Warning: Eazy emerged as an early fan favorite, but starting midway through the premiere, allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman emerged on Twitter and Reddit. Allegedly there have been attempts made to contact Bachelorette production and legal action has been taken. While we’re still learning the details and cannot confirm the veracity of these allegations, we believe it’s important to err on the side of believing women.

To end this week’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 16, we finally get a two on one conversation with Noah and Bennett. Bennett shows his vulnerable side by giving Noah a book on emotional intelligence before Tayshia enters the room. This is all we really need to know from now on about the condescending annoyance Bennett really is.
