Why did Tayshia Adams cry during this week’s group date?

It’s not very often that all of the men bring the same level of energy and effort to a group date but in week eight’s episode of The Bachelorette, we saw just that–and so did Tayshia Adams.

Tayshia Adams did not expect to see the men break down their walls as they did during this week’s group date. But all of them truly opened up their heart to her and gave Tayshia their all, especially Ben.

The theme of the evening was to form a deeper connection with the men through art. They were asked to create a self-portrait of themselves to show a different side of them that Tayshia hasn’t seen before. We saw each guy really break down their walls and prove to Tayshia that they can be honest and vulnerable, all while still being creative.

Noah drew his portrait with the two sides of him; the bright and dark side. On each side, he wrote bold adjectives describing himself. Ivan completely opened up about his dad who is getting older in age, and the battles that his father has faced with his health. He went on to say that his father had a heart attack not too long ago and his biggest fear is losing his father before his father is able to see the man that he had created in him. One of his biggest fears is that his father will not see him with a family of his own and he hopes that he is able to create one with Tayshia.

Riley opened up about the absence of a motherly figure in his life which led to him maturing faster than other people his age. He talked about the emotional battles and struggles that he faced not having his mother around and was on the verge of tears during his presentation.

Ben walked up with his painting and seemed to have forgotten an important piece and disappeared behind the curtains. He returned moments later naked in a robe, Ben tells Tayshia as he strips down into the bare nude that he is going to figuratively let his guard down and give her all of him, physical body and everything inside.

All Tayshia Adams has asked of these men from the very start was to be completely open and raw with her and they did just that. Following Ben’s presentation, Tayshia was overwhelmed with emotions and had to take a brief break from the room.

She has been waiting to see this side of the men for weeks and finally getting what she needed from all of them gave her clarification and validation that her husband was in fact on this journey with her.
