The Bachelor: Top 5 celebrity appearances over the years
Soulja Boy, The Bachelorette Season 9, Episode 2
It’s hard for me to find words for this one. Have you ever seen something that is beyond cringe-worthy, but so earnest in its ridiculousness that you can’t help but admire it? That’s how I feel about the rap music video, “Right Reasons,” produced on Desiree Hartsock’s season of The Bachelorette.
I have so many questions about this. Who wrote it? Producers at ABC? Soulja Boy? Was it a collaboration? Does Soulja Boy even write his own songs, anyway? Is Desiree ever suddenly struck by flashbacks of this in the middle of the night?
It is so bad and yet – and yet – I love it. I love that the show fully recognizes its own stupid tropes and catchphrases. I love how it references some old school Bachelor Nation legends, like Wes Hayden, Justin “Rated-R” Rego, and the iconic Jason Mesnick. IYKYK.
Soulja Boy isn’t even in this song that much, but I’m still glad it exists. It is a true Bachelor Nation artifact.
Dolly Parton, The Bachelorette Season 8, Episode 3
Is there a soul on this earth who doesn’t love Dolly Parton? She’s talented, sassy, and seems to be a genuinely kind person. It’s no surprise that Emily Maynard, the southern belle who headed The Bachelorette in 2012, was almost moved to tears when Dolly Parton appeared on her season.
Dolly surprised Emily and her date, Arie, at the end of their one-on-one in Dollywood with a song written just for them. It’s one of the most heart-warming dates I’ve seen on The Bachelorette, especially since Emily was so starstruck and Dolly was so sweet to her.
