The Bachelorette Season 16, Week 5: Checking Up on Tayshia

The Bachelorette Season 16, Week 5 gave us our brand new Bachelorette, Tayshia Adams!

The Bachelorette Season 16, Week 5 found Tayshia Adams at the beginning of her journey. There are overarching themes to Tayshia’s plan of attack each week and this column will be a weekly update on her journey to finding her person.

The major theme of The Bachelorette Season 16, Week 5 is possessive men. But our girl Tayshia has zero knowledge of this, though the feelings of the men getting a fresh start after Clare’s sudden departure are of great concern for her.

After last week’s Bachelorette switcheroo, Tayshia walks into the room of the remaining 16 contestants, and gets 4 new contestants that will be competing for her heart. Though, once again, this show is not a game and the men do not seem to understand this. After the entrance of the new men, ones that Tayshia is very interested in, the confessionals start to reveal how the original contestants really feel.

The Bachelorette Season 16, Week 5: The men tell us how they really feel

There is an overwhelming abundance of hostility towards the new contestants who are getting time with Tayshia first. And to that I say: the men really need to learn who this show is for. If Tayshia is making connections with the guys specifically picked out for her, then it would definitely be more attractive if the other guys were cheering for on in her search for love. This is not about “wins,” this is about Tayshia. And she is going for it.

After Tayshia’s divorce, she does come into this season knowing what she wants and not settling, which is very similar to Clare’s approach. She wants a mature man and is not taking anything less. It makes sense that she chooses Brendan for her first one-on-one because she sees these qualities in him. It turns out, he’s divorced as well, and Tayshia finds solace in their shared experiences. Though he hasn’t said a whole lot yet, there is something about him that Tayshia is definitely attracted to.

Their date ends with a fireworks beach scene as the two cuddle and kiss in front of the water. It’s evident that Tayshia is excited and ready for her journey that is just beginning. She is ready to get to know these men and finally find who her heart has been looking for.
