After months of COVID-19 related delays and setbacks, The Bachelorette season 16 finally premiered earlier this month. This time around, The Bachelor alum Clare Crawley serves as the lead, that is until she decides to “blow up” the show and leave. Cue Tayshia Adams, who will (hopefully soon) be filling in her shoes. It’s a lot, we know.

I personally feel super immersed in this season, so much so, that the next Bachelorette hasn’t even crossed my mind. We know Tyler Cameron’s BFF Matt James, who was originally cast as a contestant on this season of The Bachelorette, will be the next Bachelor. Beyond that, who knows what will happen?

Well, it looks like ABC is already casting for the next season of The Bachelorette, believe it or not. And surprisingly, one Bachelor Nation member is throwing their hat in the ring to appear in the franchise again. Demi Burnett quote-tweeted an announcement for casting last night, adding, “Volunteering as tribute.”

Would Demi Burnett compete on The Bachelorette? We know that one person can compete on multiple seasons (looking at you, Nick Viall), but could we see Demi going through the competition process again? Or, does she mean she’s volunteering to be the next Bachelorette?

Judging by the replies Demi has been getting, people are rallying for her to be the show’s next leading lady. One person responded, “this is the bachelor nation’s chance to have a bisexual queen and have both men and women to court you i- historical,” while another added, “If you’re the bachelorette I’m signing up (I’m sure my boyfriend will understand).”

Is it possible that Demi could become the next Bachelorette? Well, when it comes down to the guidelines, it used to be that as long as you were a contestant on a previous season, you could be the franchise’s lead. However, Matt James’ casting kind of switched up that rule. He has never appeared on any Bachelor show in any capacity, so really, anything goes.

But considering Demi appeared on Colton’s season of The Bachelor, and then became a fan-favorite on season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise, even debuting the first-ever same sex relationship to the franchise, we could totally see her becoming the Bachelorette. Plus, the hope would be that ABC would cast both men and women as contestants, since Demi is bisexual.

Is ABC ready for that type of inclusion? We’re not sure, but we certainly are.

Demi is a beloved member of Bachelor Nation, so we’re sure nearly everyone would love to see her in the leading role. As for her competing on another season? Sure, but that top spot would be best!
