Yikes! Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette just began last week, and already people are trying to dig up details from her past that allegedly prove she’s been lying on TV. It seems like this happens pretty much every season, with either the lead of the show or with some of the contestants.

However, this time around, Clare is directly responding to what she’s being accused of, and she’s clearly not taking any garbage from anyone. The drama all started when a person jumped onto Instagram to share old photos of ABC’s leading lady from high school.

Did Clare lie about not going to prom?

Sharing a video from last night’s episode of The Bachelorette, in which Clare revealed to contestant Chasen that she never went to prom, the Instagram user claimed in her caption that her husband actually took Clare to the high school event.

The woman, named Jami, shared old photos of Clare and her husband Ryan in which they dressed up in formal wear and wore corsages. Typically, corsages are used for proms, however they certainly can be utilized for any sort of formal event.

You can see Jami’s Instagram post here, which includes the clip from last night, along with two old photos of Clare and Ryan.

Of course, people in the comments section found the post seriously entertaining, with many people tagging Clare and declaring that she had been “exposed.”

Well, Clare Crawley was not standing for that. Soon after the post was made, the Bachelorette herself jumped into the conversation, commenting back to an Instagram user:

"Lol actually not. You do know there is more dances in high school that are NOT prom? Turns out it’s just someone digging up old photos. (why she keeps her husband’s old dance pics I’m not sure [emoji].) I went to a new school senior year and in fact DID NOT go to prom just like I said."

Way to shut that down, Clare!

It’s unclear whether Jami added this into her caption before or after Clare chimed in, but she did also write, “Note: [Clare] went to all girls school he went to a all boys school call it want you want, Senior Ball or Senior Prom, it took place in the spring.”

Semantics aside, Clare’s not here for any slander of her character on social media. Call it prom or a ball, she’s maintaining the fact that she was telling the truth.
