Bachelor Nation is in a frenzy this week, as Clare Crawley‘s 31 hopeful contestants have finally been confirmed by ABC for The Bachelorette season 16! Fans of The Bachelor alum know she didn’t exactly find love (successfully) on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season back in 2014, and we all can’t wait to see who she ultimately chooses during her time as the franchise’s leading lady.

One contestant who catches our eyes is Ben Smith, who beyond looking rather handsome is also super sweet sounding! According to his ABC profile, here’s what Ben’s intentions are heading into The Bachelorette:

"Ben is so ready to get married and is truly looking for the right woman to settle down with and start a family. Ben wants a wife who can openly communicate and stay emotionally available. She also must be able to keep up with him on the dance floor, or at least be willing to cheer him on when he jumps in the middle of a dance battle to show off some of his winning moves."

Pretty cute, right? So let’s get into the basics of Ben Smith.

Ben is 29 years old, which is 10 years younger than Clare (if you were wondering!). This lucky contestant is from Venice, California.

Ben’s Instagram page screams bodybuilding and shirtless selfies. Literally, that takes up most of his feed. The Bachelorette hopeful has just over 5,000 followers on his page, but we’re sure that number is about to go up once viewers see him on their screens (hopefully shirtless at some point, am I right?).

Beyond working out and staying fit, Ben appears to enjoy pizza, puppies, and coffee. Sounds like the key to anyone’s heart! Surprisingly, he has not posted anything about The Bachelorette yet.

If you couldn’t tell from his Instagram profile, Ben is a bodybuilder and personal trainer. What’s less obvious, however, is that he is also an Army Ranger veteran. According to ABC, he suffered a back injury which made him reevaluate his life and return back to home.

Ben briefly touched upon his experience in an Instagram post here, writing, “I am beyond blessed and honored to have spent time in foreign lands, doing foreign things with my brothers.”
