Ben Higgins is coming out with his first book–but it will be a revealing expose on Bachelor Nation?

Ben Higgins is joining the ranks of fellow Bachelor Nation alums as he prepares for the launch of his very first book, Alone in Plain Sight: Searching for Connection When You’re Seen and Not Known. There is one burning question on my mind–is it going to be a Bachelor tell-all, revealing all the dirty secrets of a show that is known for its controversy and drama?

Not exactly. And I must say–thank goodness for that!

So, what is Ben Higgins’ book about then?

In an interview with People, Higgins explained what direction he opted to take for his very first book. And I’m sorry to disappoint some of you, but he will not be focusing on Bachelor Nation. In fact, it’s more of a personal project, if anything. Something that goes beyond his experiences as a lead and a contestant, but rather an insight into his life, the challenges he’s faced, and the beauty of where he’s ended up.

"Most people who hear that I’m releasing a book probably expect it to be a Bachelor ‘tell-all,’ but I couldn’t bring myself to do that for my first book. It would be too easy! I wanted to write something that matters, something raw and honest, and nothing matters more to me than addressing something I’ve felt deep down my entire life."

He goes on to reveal that the book is rather a way to reach out to those that have been let down by life’s disappointments, who have felt isolated and misunderstood. It’s his reminder to all of us that we are not alone in what we’re feeling, and for that I commend his efforts.

To be honest, I love that Ben Higgins has chosen to make his first book about something personal, real, and honest, rather than a tell-all expose on a show we already know about. There’s something to be said about a person in his position revealing his inner thoughts, and appealing to people around the world with his struggles.

"Alone in Plain Sight isn’t just a bunch of meaningless clichés or platitudes. Ever since opening up about my feelings of not belonging on national television, strangers share their personal struggles with me all of the time. I’ve found that one of the strongest connections we can make is through shared pain and suffering. But I’ve also learned that our hardest moments can be opportunities for major growth. I truly believe that the stories shared in my book will connect us all, help us to learn more about ourselves, and hope that we can all discover the true story of us."

We already know Bachelor Nation is dramatic, has its questionable motives and decisions, and can be a rather stressful experience for those that get involved within it. Thank you Ben Higgins for taking a different approach for your first book, and for giving us something we can all relate to. Bachelor Nation can’t wait to read your book (and February 2021 can’t come soon enough!).
