The Bachelor: Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi finally tell all!

The tell all Bachelor Nation has been waiting for–Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi.

Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi left The Bachelor Season 21 engaged, but unfortunately, fate had something else in mind for their future together. After getting engaged in March 2017, the couple called off their engagement that August.

The reason for their breakup was never really discussed or revealed, and Bachelor Nation was always curious as to what transpired between Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi. Now, exactly three years later, the two of them have come together to give us the tell all Bachelor Nation has been hoping and waiting for (well, sort of).

Grimaldi stopped by (virtually) on Viall’s Patreon series, Nick V Talks Trash TV, and spilled the tea on what exactly happened three years ago, starting with Nick who looks back at the efforts the both they put in to make things work.

"I think the one thing Vanessa and I really agreed about is how much we cared and how much we tried. And we just went about it so unproductively. … If the speed of how your driving is equal to the effort you’re putting in, we were both going 100 miles per hour, but we were both going at opposite directions at one another and it eventually just crashed and exploded."

I think this is something we’ve seen time and time again for Bachelor Nation couples. The real world is a stark difference from the comforts of the mansion, the international trips, and the lavish dates that couples get to experience on the shows. When they go out into the real world, things are drastically different, and most couples have a hard time getting on the same page.

It’s honestly one of the very few things that makes sense about this franchise, and it’s a very common reason for Bachelor Nation couples not making it. In any case, Grimaldi goes on to discuss that they attempted couples therapy and admits she was having a very difficult time at one point.

"Coming off of the show, it was f—king hard. I don’t even know if you know this but I would lock myself in the bathroom, just turn the shower on and cry for hours. I’m pretty sure I went through states of depression … while we were living together in downtown L.A., while you were on Dancing With the Stars."

Let’s just say Nick was pretty surprised to hear Vanessa’s reveal, and had no idea the stress she had been under during their time together. But as it turns out, Nick was just as stressed over the whole ordeal and would get his frustrations out at the gym.

What have we learned from their situation, Bachelor Nation? Communication is key.

But I think Vanessa explains their relationship in the most fitting way possible.

"We were two puzzle pieces that just didn’t fit."

Truer words have never been spoken.
