The Jordan proposal drama

After seeing how the show skimmed over some aspects of Kaitlyn and Shawn’s relationship, I wasn’t all too surprised to see they did the same with Jordan and JoJo. However, I was kind of sad to see the drama with Jordan concerning the “father’s blessing” wasn’t recapped last night on The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons Ever.

While the tradition of needing a father’s blessing to have a woman’s hand in marriage can be disputed as to its feministic sensibility, JoJo made it very clear it was extremely important and non-negotiable. She very much wanted the two final men to ask for her father’s blessing during their family visits. Though Jordan’s visit with her parents went pretty well, he didn’t feel the time was right to ask for a blessing when he didn’t know for sure he was being chosen at the end.

Needless to say, JoJo was shocked when her father told her Jordan didn’t ask for the blessing. She had a bit of a breakdown in front of her family, and we got to see a very real side of how difficult making the final decision is for the lead.

JoJo and Jordan had multiple conversations/arguments about the fact that Jordan didn’t ask for a blessing, and it was nice to see a slightly less perfect side of the season’s most obviously in love couple. Jordan eventually did ask JoJo’s father for a blessing, and as we all know, ended up proposing! I see why the recap decided to skip ahead to the proposal, but it was all the more satisfying knowing all the build-up!
