The Bachelor Season 21 premiere

The season premiere is technically Episode 2 of the season on HBO Max, as Episode 1 is “Countdown to Nick” (this show really knows how to psych everybody up for a season!). After recapping his time on the show, with not one, not two, but THREE breakups under his belt, Nick said to the camera, “I am definitely not perfect.” How many times have we heard a Bachelor say this?? It gets tiring having the lead held up on a pedestal as some sort of beacon of perfection, so this was refreshing to hear the Bachelor himself admit some flaws, such as his (in my opinion, endearing) mumbling.

The Bachelor Season 21 premiere continued with an adorable bro/sis chat between Nick and the famous Bella, where she gave him some very helpful advice including picking up the girls in cool rides. Lol.  Naturally, three former Bachelors then descended on the scene to impart wisdom and discuss Nick, which included Sean Lowe saying “A lot of people see him as this giant toolbag.” Nothing like encouragement!

When the limos started pulling up, one of the most memorable limo exits was Liz, who had previously met Nick at a wedding but was apparently encouraged to not reference their shared past, to see if Nick remembered her. Watching realization dawn on his face when Liz stepped out made for a very real reality TV moment, one of many we would get throughout the season.

We also got to see Nick meet Vanessa, watch her confuse him with some French, and hear him say “That’s a keeper” as she walked away. Adorable! Perhaps best of all, this premiere blessed us with the irreplaceable Rachel Lindsay, who leaped onto our radars when Nick gave her the first impression rose!
