It’s the end of the road for The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph.

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph have broken up. Yes, that’s right. Take a moment to let it sink in and marinate. Some may say that they’re not surprised at all and they were expecting it sooner rather than later. And some of us (like myself) have been completely caught by surprise.

Both Underwood and Randolph took to their social media within this last hour to share the heartbreaking news after being together for a little less than 2 years. But there is a silver lining in all of this, it seems very amicable and civil. Not all relationships have that luxury, and while we may not know the truth of everything that’s transpired, we’re happy to see they’re still being very caring and loving towards one another.

From the iconic fence jump to parting ways

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph’s love story began on The Bachelor, and very quickly became the focal point of the season. We were constantly teased with the infamous “fence jump” scene, you know the one in which Cassie basically says she doesn’t want to be with Colton and he freaks out.

The freakout ended up working out in Colton’s favor, and Cassie and Colton’s love story began from that point forward. It’s been over a year since that episode aired, and all of Bachelor Nation has been tuned into how this couple grew together.

Through thick and thin, and even Colton Underwood’s coronavirus diagnosis, the couple stayed together. But now it seems, they’ve reached the end of the road. Based on their social media posts, it’s unclear what exactly prompted the breakup, but with everything said and done, they’ve decided to stay friends.

Underwood recalls fondly on their time together in his post and says “this isn’t the end of our story, it’s the start of a whole new chapter for us”. Perhaps this isolated time together in quarantine allowed them to evaluate their relationship and realize that they are better off as friends. Whatever the case is, I’m glad they’re being nice to one another. More often than not, this isn’t the case, so let’s give them a round of applause for keeping it together.

I must admit it warms my heart that there is still love between them, and even with this saddening reveal, they are commenting on each other’s posts with heart emojis. Good for them!

Many people I’ve been speaking to since this news broke out have been saying they expected this, and saw it coming, and didn’t think they would last. I’m not sure I’m in agreement with that, but at the end of the day, a couple in love parted ways, and I believe in giving them our empathy and understanding.

Every couple faces difficulties, and sometimes you grow apart rather than grow together. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

We wish Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph the best of luck in their individual lives and hope that wherever their story takes them from here–it’s beautiful and amazing!
