The Bachelorette Season 11: Kaitlyn Bristowe

Monday, June 15th, 8:00 p.m. EDT

Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette is an absolute must for The Bachelor Greatest Seasons Ever lineup. Friendly reminder that we had a VOTE-OFF for the lead of The Bachelorette Season 11. It’s legitimately still mind-blowing to wonder who thought that in any way was an acceptable twist. While Kaitlyn Bristowe reigned victorious, she was initially pitted against another contestant from Chris Soules’ season of The Bachelor, Britt Nilsson – all the way until the men VOTED ONE OF THEM OUT on Night One. Honestly, imagine that scenario transpiring in 2020.

Things only got weirder from there. Remember “I’m from Princeton” Ian Thomson? In another victory for feminism, Kaitlyn was berated by Thomson for being too “surface level” and disinterested in anything besides making out with the guys. Did I miss the memo where this was a dating show? Perhaps Ian should check his alum email for socially acceptable things to say before saying them in the future.

And that’s not even including the original Windmill Gate that was sex-with-Nick-Viall pre-fantasy suites (a true, perfectly acceptable and in no way sexist outrage), nor subsequent meltdown by eventual winner Shawn Booth. While I have zero interest in re-hearing “I want to know every part of you,” I would like to see everything else but that. It’s important to know for fans who cheered on Hannah Brown for her female sexual-empowering season that Bristowe ultimately pioneered this change – and endured the brutal backlash in her pursuit. Another must-see season that ABC rightly put at the start of The Bachelor Greatest Seasons Ever.
