Listen to Your Heart’s Chris and Bri drop debut album–and its hot!
Earlier this week, Bachelor Nation watched as Chris and Bri were crowned the first-ever winners of The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart–and already the pair have released their debut album for the world to hear!
Listen to Your Heart season 1 winners, Chris Watson and Bri Stauss are a romantic musical inspiration to us all, as they so gracefully proved earlier this week. But it gets better, Bachelor Nation! Since the season wrapped, the world flipped upside down leaving them with limited options to record their debut album. From the safety of their homes and respective cities, they recorded their ten-track album simply titled “Chris and Bri“, which features five original songs that the lovebirds co-wrote via FaceTime and Zoom.
Thank you, technology!
The other five songs are the romantic covers these cuties performed for our viewing pleasure during the Listen to Your Heart competition we watched every Monday night for the past 6 weeks.
So with some old favorites and some new tunes ready to sweep us off our feet, how does the first-ever Bachelor-created musical duo’s album really sound? Don’t worry, I have listened to it on repeat to provide an in-depth and completely unbiased review of “Chris and Bri.”
So sit back, cue the playlist on YouTube, and enjoy!
The album starts strong with the first of the five original songs by our winners titled “Found You.” I’m calling it now, this one will get played at weddings for years to come. With lyrics touching on holding your love close after finally finding what you needed, this is a true love song that will definitely choke you up if you’ve had a glass or two of wine.
I’ll be honest, when the second track started I thought my phone had messed up and completely started playing a different artist. That’s really how different this one sounded! “360” is about that all-encompassing love that overtakes your entire life, but in a good way. Not in the “you now have no life and your friends are worried kinda way”, ya know? Turn “360” up and bust a move around your living room like it’s the club you can’t visit.
Next up is “I Do (Tell Em)” which tells the story of Chris and Bri’s television whirlwind romance and how no one sees the reality of their relationship completely. (But THEY do so everything is fine, guys!) The chorus on this one is very catchy and you will find yourself singing along almost immediately.
“Your Touch” slides into the fourth slot and invites you to grab your partner and dance the night away like no one is watching. With a beachy vibe that has me wishing for a vacation, this little ditty has a fun back and forth playfulness that gives us a glimpse into the lighter side of Chris and Bri’s adorable romance. Make yourself a fruity cocktail and enjoy!
The fifth song and last of the originals is “Heart Open.” Another more traditional love song to round things out, this one might be my favorite. (And could also definitely make that wedding playlist.) With moving lyrics about being ready and willing to fall in love and allowing yourself to be vulnerable, you can hear the passion that Chris and Bri have for each other throughout. *Sigh* I really hope these crazy kids make it!
The first of their Listen to Your Heart covers is “Beyond” by Leon Bridges, and if this doesn’t make you nostalgic for the beginnings of your first big love when you had more enthusiasm for the future than you knew what to do with, well you’re wrong and maybe this isn’t the album for you.
Only two words are needed to introduce the next song: Taylor Swift. Yes, the classic “Lover” cover that could maybe, possibly be better than the original is here to grace your earbuds. (I’m sorry, Swifties, don’t hurt me.) You heard it on tv and now you can hear it on repeat so you can swoon over and over again.
T-Swift is always hard to follow, but choosing a song that has so much meaning to our lovebirds is a solid choice. Chris and Bri’s version of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is so, so good. It’s perfect, I love it, the end.
We are nearing the end of the album, but not before one more song that is full of explosive passion. Ed Sheeran’s “Give Me Love” performed by this dynamic duo makes me kinda like this song! (The chorus is a bit annoying, ok?) Chris and Bri can pretty much make anything sound good and they are feeling themselves with this one. I approve.
Last, but definitely not least, is “Make You Feel My Love” which will 1000% make you feel some kind of way. Grab the person closest to you, hug them as tightly as possible, and pour out all those emotions you’ve been bottling up against your therapist’s will. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Overall, “Chris and Bri” has a little something for everyone. From their Listen to Your Heart romance you know and love to their updated covers to some fresh songs that will fit nicely into your next playlist. Whether you want to sing along, dance, or just get a little emotional, this album hits all the right notes. What can I say? Bri and Chris listened to their hearts.
