The Bachelor season 12: The Jason Mesnick switch

Long before Arie/Becca/Lauren, there was Jason/Melissa/Molly. Back in season 13 of The Bachelor, Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft seemed like a match made in heaven. They even went golfing with his son and played with a lamb! However, that happiness was short-lived. We should have known what was to come when we saw the now-famous Mesnick breakdown after Jason broke up with Molly. Those were not the tears of a happy man.

For the first time ever, “After the Final Rose” was moved up and taped without a live audience. It was so eerily quiet in the studio! We were told that Jason was going to break up with Melissa that night (we later found out the actual breakup itself was mutual) but Melissa apparently did not know the whole truth, which was that Jason actually wanted to get back together with Molly!

Lovable Jason Mesnick quickly became one of America’s Most Hated. Thank goodness there wasn’t the social media force there is today, but the reunited Jason and Molly suffered their fair share of hate and apparently barely went out together for months. Jason’s decision was made all the more dramatic when a series of emails between Melissa and Jason were later leaked.

Although it wasn’t so easy getting there, Jason and Molly are happily married to this day, as is Melissa herself. Not to mention, all the drama thankfully got Melissa a spot on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, which was truly phenomenal!
